THE DAILY ISLAMIC ROUTINE TOOLKIT
BY- AIMEN FROM MUSLIM YOUTH PROGRAMME
Do you want a daily Islamic routine from Sunnah that works specifically for YOU? If you do, this toolkit is PERFECT for you!

IMAGINE IF YOUR DAILY ROUTINE LOOKED SO CLOSE TO THE SUNNAH ROUTINE.
Imagine if at the end of every day, you look back and smile.
You’re satisfied with how your day went.
You have a ROUTINE now. One that you are, most definitely, PROUD of. 🙂
You don’t wake up late anymore… you are getting things DONE early in the day… you are making time for Ibadah… and after everything, you get to relax at the end of the way and enjoy some ME-time. *Ah the dream*
Your day is beautifully balanced with a good mixture of Ibadah, work, family and personal activities. That’s because you have a well-balanced routine now. And the best part? It’s so EASY for you to follow it. Because it has everything YOU want. And that’s why you can follow it CONSISTENTLY.
Ever since you’ve started following this routine, you [finally] feel like you know where your time is going. You feel CONFIDENT in yourself as a Muslim. Sometimes you sit back and smile in gratitude. You can’t believe how productive you’ve become.
And now – people come up to you and ask you “how do you do so many things in a day?!”. You reply back by saying “I just follow a routine that works really well for me“.
The reason why this seems like a faraway dream is because we try to make our daily routines perfect right off the bat. We try to follow the Prophet’s (S.A.W.) routine a 100%, never taking into account our personal situations such as career, family and other responsibilities. And when we’re unable to follow-through and replicate the Prophet’s routine in our lives, we get disappointed.
By this point, we’ve given up on maintaining a healthy Islamic routine. We blame ourselves for the lack of consistency. That makes it even harder for us to try again because now, we’ve lost the belief we had in ourselves.
What if I tell you that… it’s not you? That it’s not the lack of consistency…
What if I tell you it’s because you were trying so hard but in the wrong direction?
Rather than trying to copy the Prophet’s (S.A.W.) routine a 100%, we need to first RELATE to him and understand what he was trying to teach us.
If you’ve read in the Seerah how the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) spent his time, you’d be curious to know how we can relate to him especially when things are so much different now.
For example:
- We can’t expect to follow ALL of the daily Sunnahs a 100%.
Yes, we are supposed to follow the Sunnah way of managing time. But that doesn’t mean we can all follow ALL of the daily Sunnahs of our Prophet S.A.W. One reason is because not all of us have the same types of professions/ jobs/ careers that bring food to our tables. Another would be the level of Emaan being different of every Muslim.
- We can’t ignore the individuality of problems related to Muslims.
To ignore the individuality of problems related to every practicing Muslim would be foolish. That’s not what the Prophet S.A.W taught us either. He (S.A.W.) would listen to the individual problems of the people and give them advice accordingly.
Also, Allah S.W.T says in the Quran “do not forget your share in the world.” Which goes to show that we can’t all stop working and stop feeding our families to follow the Sunnah routine a 100%.
Many of us can’t stop working, as we’re the sole earners who’re responsible to feed and educate the family.
For e.g. A Medical Doctor who works 12 hourly shifts in the Emergency has absolutely no chance of taking an afternoon nap. Now you tell me- should that person quit his job just so he can follow the Sunnah of taking afternoon naps? Or ignore his patients and go lie down in the office just to follow the Sunnah of ‘afternoon naps’? 😀 Doesn’t make sense!
And besides, it’s a Sunnah of our Prophet (S.A.W.) to earn and spend on your family. Check out the reward for that>> Abu Huraira (R.A) reported that the Prophet (S.A.W) said:
“You spent one Dinar for the fight for the sake of God, one Dinar to liberate a slave, one Dinar to a poor person, and one Dinar to support your family. The most rewarded Dinar is the one that you spent on your family. (the one yielding the greatest reward is that which you spend on your family”. [Muslim]
Abu Mas’ud reported: The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “If a Muslim spends on his family seeking reward from Allah, then it is charity for him.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
So what do we do? We WANT to create and follow a routine from Sunnah of our Prophet (S.A.W.). But how do we do that without overwhelming ourselves?
THIS IS WHAT ‘FOLLOWING THE ROUTINE OF OUR BELOVED PROPHET (S.A.W)‘ MEANS FOR US…
Prophet (S.A.W) set an example for us by creating a pattern of activities & a daily system that we can use and adjust to our personal lives. Our religion is flexible and gives us:
☑ Systems
☑ Rules
☑ Boundaries.
Rather than giving us a strict, monotonous, robotic routine in the Sunnah, the Prophet (S.A.W.) gave us systems, rules and boundaries so we could follow them by adjusting them to our personal situations.
As long as we stay within the boundaries, following the rules and using the systems from Quran and Sunnah, we’d be able to create and live a routine that is not only specific for our situation, it’s also very close to the Sunnah way of living.
And we all agree that- besides the Prophet’s way of living, there’s no single routine that can be labelled as ‘PERFECT’.
There are people who are following amazing routines but those routines might not work for somebody else. They are great for that individual but very impractical for someone else. That’s because everybody has different careers, responsibilities, personality types etc.
WHEN IT COMES TO ROUTINES >>>
NO ONE SIZE THAT FITS ALL.
If so far you’ve been unable to create and follow a good Islamic routine, don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault. There are SO many problems finding a good Islamic routine online…
WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND A GOOD ISLAMIC ROUTINE ONLINE??
I spent years looking for an Islamic routine that covered everything important in my day. But instead, this is what I found:
PROBLEM # 1: ISLAMIC ROUTINES THAT ARE TOO ISLAMIC OR TOO SECULAR (NOT REALISTIC FOR MY PERSONAL SITUATION)
On the other hand, most of the daily routine printables available online are too modern and secular. They leave no room for Ibadah. In such routine templates, you basically have to alter EVERYTHING and that leaves you with a skeleton of random tips and tricks. *say-no-thank-you*
PROBLEM # 2: STRICT, RIGID OR MONOTONOUS ROUTINES
I came across this comment as I was surveying people>
“I feel so lazy doing [the] same thing every day.”
The fear of Monotony. Ughh- the horror of living a boring routine.
Our mistake: we tend to confuse ‘consistency’ with ‘monotony’. And with good reason too>
We create army-like, STRICT routines for ourselves that leave no room for us to breathe! Take a look at this>>
…
6:00 am- wake up
6:15 am- pray Fajr
6:30 am- Eat breakfast
6:45 am- Take a shower
…
*UGHHH*
Who wants to live life like a robot, following strict rules every day? NOBODY.
Agreed that we want to give more time to Deen but that doesn’t mean we want to keep doing the exact same things at the exact same time every single day.
Get this- being consistent does NOT mean you have to be robotic, boring or monotonous.
The ideal solution is to build well-balanced daily routines that have some sort of structure but also allow flexibility and spontaneity so we don’t feel stagnant.
Good news is- it’s totally doable. In a minute, I’ll show you exactly how you can do that.
PROBLEM # 3: NOT PERSONALIZED FOR INDIVIDUAL SITUATIONS
When you search the online space, everyone is handing you a routine that’s designed for somebody else. These are all ‘general’ routines that they expect everyone to follow. For example; a routine that’s created for a person who works 9-to-5 can not work well for somebody who is a housewife. Or a routine that’s designed for a University student can’t work for someone who has 3 small kids.
That’s why I’ve come to understand that there’s more to building an Islamic routine than random tips and tricks.
THE ‘PERFECT ROUTINE’ DOESN’T EXIST!
What makes a routine GREAT are three things:
1. It has a perfect balance of spontaneity and structure.
2. It is personalized, relevant and very specific for you.
3. It takes into account the Sunnah routine of our Prophet S.A.W.
Truth is- every time I’d search the online space, I’d come back disappointed. I could never find all of those 3 things in a single routine.
And so, I created my own. The result? It worked brilliantly. 😉
And then this happened- people would ask me ‘can you tell me your daily routine? Better yet, can you create an Islamic routine for me?’
BTW, in case you’re wondering who I am…
SALAM! I’M AIMEN.
I’m a Medical doctor. You might know me as the Founder of Muslim Youth Programme.
And after 7 years of relentless learning and persistent effort, I’ve built the productivity and time-management systems that allow me to pursue my career as a Doctor, study for my post-grad exams as well as run an organization online that helps Muslims grow closer to Allah (S.W.T).
And now, I want to share with you my step-by-step process of creating a amazing Islamic routine for yourself that allows you to balance your Ibadah and Islamic learning with your family and career, without feeling overwhelmed.
Truth is- it wasn’t so easy to get into the flow of a good Islamic routine. I wanted a routine that allowed me to be super-productive without creating stress or overwhelm for me.
And so, I would plan and plan. Break and make my routines. Over and over again. I downloaded every single printable for daily routines that was available at that time. And I’d just end up with a bunch of routines that were just NOT for me. I’d always have to tweak and edit so much that I’d lose interest and would never be able to stick to my new routine.
Fast forward to now- I figured there was a process of building Islamic routines that allowed me to create a new routine within minutes from scratch. So whenever my situation would change (sleep-wake schedule shifts or duties change), all I’d have to do was use my super simple step-by-step system to create a NEW Islamic routine that was very specific to that particular situation.
This SINGLE change in my day brought so much goodness in my life>> By creating my own productive routines, I was able to build and launch Muslim Youth Programme from scratch- ALL within 3 months. I also followed a weight loss regime, lost 10 pounds of weight, started studying the Arabic course from Bayyinah AND prepared for one of my post-graduate Medical exams- during the SAME 3 months. A month later, I was also working a day job besides everything else. Alhamdulilah.
With my repeated test-and-trial method, I’ve realized that we don’t need MORE tactics on how to build the ‘perfect Islamic routine’.
WE NEED A STEP-BY-STEP SYSTEM. MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE NEED TOOLS THAT WILL TAKE THE MYSTERY OUT OF CREATING ISLAMIC ROUTINES FOR OURSELVES.
And that’s exactly what I created. Instead of creating routines for every individual that came to me, I ended up creating a step-by-step system for building personalized routines.
And with the help of my system, anyone can create a routine that’s:
ISLAMIC
It perfectly aligns with the routine of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). It helps you create a balance in your day between Ibadah, family and work.
FLEXIBLE
It has the structure you need to create discipline plus the flexibility to add activities and projects you WANT. So you can get things done and also have guilt-free FUN!
PERSONALIZED
So it’s exactly what you need, not picked off from your next-door neighbour! It takes into account your career/ work duties, family responsibilities and your favorite activities!
